I've been wanting to add a drum switch to my Atlas 10F for a while and have been camping out on Ebay looking for a good deal. Naturally, my idea of a good deal is FREE but I cannot see myself paying some of the prices that I've been seeing on Ebay. I would prefer to buy a vintage style (Furnas, etc.) but for me, they are too much in price.

How about the cheap Chinese switches? The prices are so cheap that it worries me that the quality is even worse than one could imagine. Does anyone have any experience with the Chinese Drum switches? Your opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

McMaster Carr has drum switches starting around $25 or so.

If you buy cheap, you will get cheap. There is a good reason that many people call Harbor Freight Horror Freight. So far, McMaster does not seem to have succumbed to the Cheap Virus affecting most of the planet today. Also, it has been my experience that at least some of the Hong Kong suppliers are still quality competitive with Taiwan and Western suppliers.

Yes, I certainly agree with you. However, once in a while the Chinese will surprise you with a product that is indeed a good value. I was just checking to see if these drum switches just might be one of them. I'm sure I will eventually find a switch that will meet my needs. There is certainly no hurry other than my patience.

How much is too much to you? I just sold a Furnas a few weeks ago, and I may have another. I will have to check my ratholes.

Hi Vince... I sent you a PM conversation regarding your switch. I appreciate your contacting me.
