Just got done installing the MX100 DRO on my 728 mill. Been wanting to do this since I got the mill. The kit supplied by Precision really helped a first timer like me. I did not have to make any additional brackets or drill and tap any additional holes on the mill.
I would say in total it took me approx 4 hours but I think I was being pretty anal dialing in the scales and aligning the reader heads. I think a more experienced person could knock this out in half the time.
I had a pretty nice sense of accomplishment when I finally turned it on and saw the 3 scales work properly.
I looked at some cheaper DRO systems but feel the time I saved with this kit from Precision Mathews makes it worth the additional cost.
So far I have only used the half function and center circle function for drilling some holes. Nice to have the precision that I seemed to be lacking in some of my prior projects.
