The BP mill I just bought as a project needs to be reassembled. The previous owner had taken the motor and head off the machine when the motor shaft failed when the key came loose. I'll do a full rebuild at some point, but right now, I just want to get it back together so I can get an inventory of parts I need. Parts that were probably scavenged off this unit over the 10-15 years it sat.

Taking cues from Mr. Pete, H&W and others, I set off to make my version of a head installation tool post.

Very cool! You probably don't even need to tram the head now! ;)

One possible modification you might consider is slotting the holes in the stand so you could easily slip studs that are already threaded into the T bolts easily. Not a big deal, just a thought as I watched your video! :)
 
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the slots. It certainly would have made that a bit easier.

One thing I don't always make clear on my videos. I am not making the to show anyone how to do it, I'm just recording how I did it. I likely did it the wrong way. LOL!
