Diamond Grinding Wheels

I'm concidering purchasing a Diamond grinding wheel, just not sure which configuration would be best for my needs.
I want to grind HSS bits and tune up carbide inserts. I have access to alot of used cribide inserts, and HSS for free, so I may be able to salvage some of them.
I'm looking at 3 configurations of wheels, strainght , cup and dish. These wheels are 100% concentraion and are 150 grit.
My dilemma is which wheel would be best suited for my requirments.
Any recomendations from you more experienced members would be grately appreciated.

Don't use diamond wheels on ferrous compounds (cast iron, steel, stainless steel), it will cause them to wear prematurely. For HSS, you will want either aluminum oxide, or CBn (Cubic Boron Nitride also called "Borazon"). Diamond works for non-ferrous materials like carbide.

I have a vertical/horizontal Sunnen low speed(200 rpm) diamond grinder. Low speed is o.k. for HSS. The discs are 6" x 1/2". They cost a lot. I have found a source on Ebay in China that offers 1/16" thick 6" discs, diamond plated, for $9.00 each. I plan to glue them to aluminum or something to make them thick enough, and just use them. Grits from about 80 to 2000(possibly 3000) can be had. This grinder has just a flat head screw in the center, and a 1/8" hole for a drive pin. The discs do have a 1/2" hole, which will do. I'll drill the drive pin hole before cementing the disc down.

By gluing these discs to a turned aluminum back plate with epoxy or super glue,I don't see why they couldn't be used on different grinders,at least bench grinders with 1/2" arbors. The discs are nice and flat, very well made. Beats $200.00!!!

Get on Ebay, business section, and search diamond wheels or discs to find the person. They are fine to deal with. Though they offer only certain grits in their site,I just specify what I want and get the correct ones readily.

Not tried this myself but I have considered if the small (4 - 4-1/2 inch diameter) continuous rim diamond wheels for angle grinders would work.
Has, in fact, anyone tried this or is this a no-no?

Thanks for all the input. I purchased 6" x 1/4" 100% concentration, 150 grit straight wheel.
Going to try it out on some carbides.
