Dead senter with thread???

Hi guys. This is is an MT5 Dead senter I have wich came with some things I bought a wile back. I can't use it,but what is the tread use for and the flat spot on one side. Does anyone one know.

The flat is so you can get your tool closer to the center or end of the part if you're cutting a smaller than the center diameter. The thread, I dunno.

The thread would likely be used with a nut to remove the center from a blind hole.

But I have never seen it before on a dead centre,and yes it looks like it can be a good idea.
