Darex SP2500

Yes, I have one. I’m pretty handy sharpening by hand. And it’s a lot faster! But if I want to split point, I use the Darex. Grinding swarf/crap can and will get into every part of the machine! Some parts are made out of some kind of pot metal. The straps will soon break. I made some out of Teflon, been holding up so far. It takes a bit of finesse to set-up the drill bit in the chuck. Kinda funky when you sweep the drill bit over the grinding wheel. Takes more finesse! More funky and finesse when you spit point. BUT, if you understand its quirks it can do a fairly good job. I would NEVER own a Drill Doctor…NEVER. If my Darex needed replacing would I get another? Yes, but only if the price was right. Until then, I would sharpen by hand. Good Luck…Dave
