Hi gang,
I saw this in the local Craigslist this morning.
Can it be converted to 220?

An electric motor shop could possibly bring out the leads from the windings to allow connection for low volts, but it looks like it would need a shop expansion!

I see these from time to time. The beauty of them is you have the access space around the buffing wheels for odd shaped items.
I wouldn't want it. I don't have any room. I know some people that have the room though.
It was a general question. It's not all that often we see a 440 only motor right?

Single voltage motors are not that uncommon but definitely a pain in the ass.
The nice part is at 1.4 ramps it wouldn't take a very big transformer.
I personally don't think it is worth more than 200.00 but that is just my opinion.

This addiction is bad!
I keep selling stuff so I can bring "new" stuff in....
I am thinking of starting an organization called Machine Tool Anonymous but here we are all letting our addiction hang out.

Single voltage motors are not real common, but they are not all that uncommon either; I had a 5 ft American Hole Wizard radial drill that was 440V only, luckily a friend gave me a 3 phase buck/boost transformer so no further BS was required, it was a 1940s machine, so getting starter coils and heaters would have been difficult, and there were also special lock motors that would have been difficult to address.

Found this to be the case with Devliegs as well....
