I have 2 Craftsman 113 series cast iron table saws. One is a 10 inch, 1 hp. The other is 8 inch 3/4 hp. Both in great shape with the original motors. I bought the 8 inch to have 1 set up to rip, one to dado. The 8 inch is way underpowered but I bought it from the original purchasers (1954) family and it has every available accessory. I’m thinking of replacing the motor with a 1 hp or more motor. I have a 1 1/2 hp on hand but huge. The frame style of the Craftsman motors is K5 73 BN. Don’t see these listed at my usual shopping spots. Anybody familiar with this frame type?

Try running it on 240V if not already setup that way (assuming it supports that).
Its usually much more efficient than 120V, will feel like it has more power.

Is the 8" set to do rip cuts? That's the lower-energy-use kind of cut, but dado sets don't use the 10" saw size effectively...
If there's no fence/blade parallelism problem, or dull blade, that eight inch should perform well with that horsepower.

Consider a pulley ratio change, or bearing-needs-service, or run capacitor could cause the performance issue.

What shaft size do you have?
Upon verification, you may be able to use a 48 or 56 frame motor.
A picture would help too

Yes, I was ripping 2x4s with the 8 inch. Kept tripping the heat reset. Had the 10 inch for dadoes. Swapped for that reason, 10 inch does both well, 8 inch neither. Can’t do 220 from my basement wiring, I think a 56 frame would work. It has a really strange motor mount. Pivot rod comes out to move saw without motor. 3 belts to swap depending on straight or angled cuts. I was going to try an eccentric type dado(carbide) vs the stacked dado (hss) but the arbor is 1/2 inch. The eccentric dadoes have a 3/4 hole with a 5/8 bushing. Gotta find a 1/2 to 5/8 or 1/2 to 3/4 arbor bushing.

I found a 1/2 inch bushing and put the carbide excentric dado in. Much better, like new carbide teeth, less wood contact than the stacked set. It is listed for a 9,10 and 12 inch saw, however. Probably were not invented when 8 inch saws were popular, It does shake a bit on shutdown, but it is a 70 year old saw.
