Does anyone know where to get a handle for a 6" Craftsman/Atlas Lathe that goes on the cross slide? This is the handle that only has one stem that sticks out on it. I bought a 6" lathe a couple of weeks ago and the handle was broke, or the stem was broke. I ended up buying a complete cross slide with all three handles intact from FleaBay, but when I pulled it out of the package, the handle that I needed was broken off. I'm not going to accuse the seller as these handles are brittle so I am imagining it happened in transit. Replacements on the 'net are rather expensive from $60 to well over $100. I also saw one going for $145. A little ridiculous I think.

So if anyone knows a source for reasonable, or that has made one and would like to make another, please contact me.

Thanks in Advance,
Kevin

Kevin,
You've already mentioned the only place I know, Ebay. Some of the items can be priced ridiculously high, but occasionally you can find something reasonable. Keep looking, and Good Luck!

Hello Kevin,

From what you've said, I take it you have the 101 6X18. One of the things a lot of folks don't know is Clausing bought out Atlas (original maker of the lathe) a long time ago but still has loads of parts and most of the time, these brand new parts are less expensive than what you can find on evilBay.

See the attached price list (dated 2005, but I'd guess you can get a new one easy enough) for the handles I think you are looking for - back then they were $9.63!View attachment Clausing Parts Price List 618.pdf

The parts on the list are exactly the same numbers of the parts in the owners manual.

If you have any questions let me know.

BTW - the folks at Clausing are great to deal with!
