I picked up this little horizontal bandsaw a few weeks ago. I am going through it and replacing worn parts. The bronze bushings bought replacements from McMaster. I also needed to replace the pinion gear. I found a print and modeled up a 3D and had it grown in Nylon.

Here is the print of the pinion gear. I have a solid model and a STL file of it for future use if needed.

I also made a new drive wheel with the print supplied by Clausing. Note those guys are the best. I called and gave him the part number. It took a few minutes to find. He did not like that print and then spent some time to cross reference. He found this print.
I made a 3D model of this also.

Here is the end result. 5 Nylon pinions and 1 6061 2 piece drive wheel.

Did some work on cleaning up the base section today. Used a degreaser and got it clean. I then took a wire wheel to the bare metal.

I also cleaned out the hydraulic cylinder and put new oil in.

Smart making extra pinion gears. They can be chewed up if the blade slips off the wheels. Don’t use cutting oil on the blade. The blade will pop off the wheels every time. Like the new machined drive wheel. It should last much better than the pot metal original. It is a good small saw. I bought mine some fifty years ago. The weak part of the saw is the pinion gear. With being able to print them out problem solved.

I need to try and find some info on how to get everything aligned. Hopefully it will track nice with all new bushings. I will be sure to only use it dry. Thanks for that tip.
 
When you put it back together there is a spacer on the idler wheel that runs in a slot. It has an angle machined into it so that the blade will stay on the wheel. It can be put on backwards. If that happens the blades won’t track. The blade guides are fully adjustable.

I saw that yesterday. That explains why the idler wheel was scared underneath. It had been put on backwards. I was trying to figure out why. When reassembling yesterday I noticed the slight nod. Then reversed it and had the clearance.

I need to make a stand now and mount the motor. Undecided on the stand situation right now.
