My craftsman 12" lathe came without the two step motor pulley. I can't seem to find what diameters the original pulley was. Any help appreciated

The original diameters are thought to be 1.930" and 4.390". There is an after-market drawing in Downloads to make one having those dimensions.

The reason that we do not have a copy of the original drawing is that Clausing still has some in stock. Or did last time that I checked. So naturally they are not releasing the factory drawing.

If you can't make one, I would strongly recommend biting the bullet and buying one from Clausing. The part number is 10-428. It is highly unlikely that you will find an after-market pulley that is even almost usable as multi-step pulleys almost always come in 1" increments, not 2". So 1", 2", 3", 4". Which means having a 3" groove in between the two that are close. Plus even if you did, to change speeds would also involve moving the motor about 1" sideways and probably nearly 2" front to back. Which would be time consuming so most people would skip it and not run at the best speed. I forgot to add that although you did not say whether your lathe was the older model with 3/8" bed or the newer one with 1/2" bed, it does not matter as both use all of the same pulleys.

You might not need the highest speeds very often so a single groove pulley (approx. 2") might be a simpler solution, at least for the short term

I measured my stock pulley that I bought recently from Clausing and the OD of the big pulley was 4.393". I couldn't easily get to the smaller one. I bought my pulley (#10-428X) for $71.25 plus tax & shipping, which was about $20. The email I got from the supplier stated they had 2 in stock.

I, too tried to find one and could not, so I just bought it from Clausing.

Incidentally, the reason for the odd dimensions isn't just to make the pulley more difficult to make or to insure that you can't expect to find a cheaper mass-market one. The two, three or four sets of dimensions all have to work with the same belt length.

But if you are bound and determined to make one, in Downloads there is a complete after-market drawing for making a 10" and 12" motor pulley. And another incomplete drawing that gives the approximate OD's of the 2-step counter shaft pulley.

My Trip down the same road:

Best,
