Hi all, I have just passed a milestone! After several years of walking sadly past my Covmac lathe, stored away in a cramped building, which is now becoming my blacksmiths shop, I have finally got it out, cleaned, and running Covmac were made by Coventry Machine Tool Works Ltd, although it seems that most of the ones which are still around in the UK were made either by D&J Tullis, of Kilbowie, Lanarkshire, Scotland, Who made laundry machinery or, like mine, By P&C Garnett of Cleckheaton in West Yorkshire, who were makers of textile machinery. Both firms were manufacturing these machines as war work during ww2. and I would be interested to know if any came to the USA. After the war, many of these machines were reconditioned, and sold into industry, mine by I&L Berridge Ltd in Leicester, who were industrial knitting machine manufacturers If anyone knows of a covmac stateside, I would love to hear about it! There is a short video of ot here,
and a pic below.
