I just noticed that one of my favorite small shop made tools has become unavailable - it's the tap wrench made for hand tapping in the mill. The tool post mounted follow rest is also out of production, as are several other items I've acquired over the last few years.
I like to support small producers, because that's what I am, and because it may help foster innovation and supply of specialty items.
Here's my latest acquisition - super simple, but very nice:
It's fully hardened anvil block you can clamp in pretty much any vise 4" and wider.
Check out the tool post mounted follower rest:
So how about it? Anybody have special favorite tools or items from small shops? Anything we should grab before it becomes an endangered species, like the one above, which is no longer made?
Here's my list of cool items and reviews of the ones I've corralled: http://www.frets.com/HomeShopTech/Reviews/SmallShopTools/smallshoptools.html
