I dont understand the point of the dividing head on a lathe. The only thing I've seen people use it for is gear making. Can it do anything else?

Would it be possible to use it to make multi-start threaded bolts?

Whisky in addition to laying out holes in the correct position you can use a RT to mill an arc that could be used as an adjustment slot. It is also great to have one when you are laying out features in the round or making a rould feature on an irregular piece of material too. It can also set up gear teeth and find the pitch easily too. Lots of uses for an RT, once you have one you will wonder whey you did not get one sooner.
