cnc programming

would like to find a book and software to learn cnc programming. I don't have any cnc machinery but have some access to them. what i'd like to find is a book for beginning cnc with software and a computer generated test stand to check if i'm programming correctly. thanks for the help Richard

Lots of good information to help train us to think like a CNC.

Some programs, like Mach3, can be run in simulation mode to test your G-code routine. Many of us use this one for CNC in our home shops. It can be downloaded for free to check it out. You'd then need to buy it to use it to run any hardware. Until you want to do that, it would help a lot to get used to the process.
 
A word of caution not all cnc controls react the same to some codes, and not all controls from the same mfg, have the same options. Learning code is a start but it is best to have the manual to the machine also. Different mfg's set up the control differently.
