Finished up the mechanics on the ELS upgrade. The best place to place the motor is tucked under the front of the machine. This required making an 8mm extension for the motor shaft. Bolt placement was a challenge so 3d printed a standoff to attach motor. Allows access to coupler grub screws.
The end of the shaft would need support so made a bracket similar to the original change gear bracket on the lead screw shaft. It’s a 42mm bore so got to try out my new boring head on the PM-940 mill. Could have used the 4 jaw chuck, but also needed to locate a 22mm bore for the bearing aligned with the motor shaft so DRO and mill was used.
Previous project was mounting the optical encoder to the spindle shaft via timing belt. Simple task of boring pulleys to match the 16mm spindle shaft.
