Clarke Bandsaw Rolling Stand

I picked up a used and abused Clark horizontal band saw off Craigslist a few years back. Basically it's the same one Harbor Freight offers, only a different color. It worked fine once I tore it down, cleaned and painted it, then got it running straight, but the little sheet metal stand it had was a joke.

First, I am way too tall for a band saw that sits maybe two feet from the floor, and second, it was so tippy I was afraid it was gonna fall over every time I went to move it. So I built a stand from scrap angle iron from another project.

Very nice Spike. I did the same thing lately although out of wood. Yours will last much longer and probably is more fitting. I'm not a fabricator. I agree about the height, I'm short and the stand was way to low. The wheels are a major improvement. Might I suggest a removable mud pan from Home Depot for catching chips.

Do you have a bi-metal blade on yours.

IS that the oiler in the last picture.

By the way the stand looks nice. But I agree with Chip, either a mud pan from HD, or even a large baking pan from SAMs or a restaurant supply house.

Thanks for the replies gents. Yes I bought a three pack of bimetal blades for it since the blade it came with just may have been sharper on the non toothy side. It has had an old cookie sheet tossed on the shelf to catch oil and chips since the photos were taken, and yeah, that was my quick and dirty attempt and an oiler. It works so so but is better than nothing.
Thanks again!
