I have been pondering an easily adjustable chip shield for the mill. I wanted something easily removable that would also not scratch the table.

I have been looking at this landscaping edging for a while. I think it is polpropylene:

Spring loaded hold down that fits the table slots:

Add some lexan:

Cheap and very effective.

Great idea!
Magnets could be used, too.
Just made one with magnets that attaches to the back of the vises on my Tormach. My enclosure doors have about an 1/8" gap at the center which coolant flying around from hitting swarf on a drill bit always finds. I've set a rag inside to absorb it, but still had some leaks. The chip shield does a really nice job as a coolant shield in my case.

The one attached to my vise in that pic is magnetic. I was concerned about using too many magnets and attracting ferrous chips.

Great Idea, only problem is the aluminum table covers that I have to keep chips out of the T-slots!
;)
