Based on advice in a previous post by PurpLev, I bought some CGW wheels for my surface grinder. White Alox in 46 and 60 grits 7"x1/2" with a 1-1/4 bore. No reducing bushings re included. I had the opportunity to try them out tonight. In short, I am in complete agreement with PurpLev. These things are very nice indeed.
Upon mounting the wheel, I only had to dress about 3-4 thou off to get them trued. Balance appeared to be near perfect too from the surface finish. All around performnce is near perfect and they grind cool. I definitely happier with these than the Norton's I have.
I got mine from Victor Machinery Exchange. They're currently on closeout. for between $5 and $7 each. http://www.victornet.com/subdepartments/Surface-Grinding-Wheels/2100.html
The description says they're imported. That's true, but not from Asia. They're marked made in Israel.
