Centrifugal Start Switch Replacement/Retrofit

There are many ways to extend the life of older technologies by retrofitting them with newer technologies.
My case is a perfectly functioning GE 1/2 Hp 1725 rpm 115v motor.


i savagely harvested the centrifugal start switch, and tossed it aside to make way for a solid state relay made for starting motors.



i soldered a couple wires and crimped a couple fittings and installed the solid state relay



i wired in a toggle switch for testing purposes



this is only a test!!!!



here is a video of the monstrosity in action!

i'll make it reversible in another video to come!

Hobart deli and meat slicers use these sinpak switches for starting single phase motors without centrifugal starting switches.
I have retrofited a dozen motors by this work around
