CCMT 32.51 in a 100 degree tool holder

I have a couple of 5/8" shank tool holders for CCMT 32.51 inserts I bought from Shars.

I'd like to find a tool holder that will let me take advantage of the 2 unusable corners of this insert. I've seen that Shars has a boring bar, but it's for 21.51mm insert.

But what I would really like is to use it straight on as a chamfering tool. Does such a tool holder exist for these inserts?

These corners?
I'm trying to imagine how that would work.

Yes. Imagine if the tool holder was cut to hold this insert 90 degrees to what it is now. Like this boring bar:

Picture me holding up my laptop, rotating the screen to get the picture in the same orientation as a toolpost.
I wonder how difficult it would be to lop off the end of holder and just make new pocket in the desired orientation?

SCBCR Tool Holder

I don't "endose" the above supplier, they just had the most convenient website to show it.

Use the codes SCBCR and SCKLR and it will give you the geometry. The next numbers , something like 1212 will be the shank dimensions in mm, ie 12mm x 12mm. If its a inch tool it will be 16ths of an inch, ie one with 16 will be 1" square.

The next number will be the insert size. Metric for 32.XX insert will be 09. This one is kind of stupid, its approximate mm size, a 3 size insert is a 3/8 base circle. Which is actually 9.525mm Inch like the holders above will be 3 for the number of 1/8ths

There are also "recycle" roughing facemills made just to use up those corners on CCMT inserts.

You beat me to it.
I saw Abom using these two inserts/holders.

Might not help you much since the tool I have is discontinued afaik but I use a milling cutter that Dorian called their Recycler Cutter to make use of the 100° "unused" corners for my worn out CCMT/CCGT inserts. Was also available for CNMG. Travers also used to sell it under their T&O brand. Not sure if anyone else makes something similar these days.

For chamfering I decided not to go with a CCMT tool (SCMCN). I went with a SCMT/SCGT (square insert) tool. I got a bunch of those inserts for cheap & probably have a lifetime supply. Aside from 45° chamfering, without moving it's orientation it's good for facing & OD turning. It's does a decent job at roughing since it leads in at an angle it makes a wide yet thin chip.

Will
You tease us with that picture if the face mill.
Man I went down that rabbit hole looking for that face mill and I found a big fat zero. One company still had it on their web site as NOS and I ordered it, but I got a call. Oh we don't have that any more our site is out of date,b but I can sell you ______ instead. No thanks.
Now I don't care, I just throw them in the trash.

I see, thanks for confirming Rick (sorry :D). Ok good to know, I suppose I should stop mentioning this tool in the future when this subject comes up again (I've never seen them come up for sale used either).

But there are still turning tools that are availble to make use of the 100° corners. I never bought any myself cause I think they're odd/inconvenient, eg, one tool for facing, another tool for OD turning, etc.
