When I ordered mine, I thought for sure it had a carriage lock already built in. I was surprised to find out it didn't. All this time, I've just been holding the carriage wheel so it doesn't move while I'm parting or something like that.

Are there any good designs for a carriage lock for a PM1127?

Are you sure it doesn't have one? There should be a hex head on the close right top side of the saddle that locks it in place. I know the 1030 lathes have one, I have trouble imagining the 1127 would not.

There is one. It's not obvious, but it's there. On top of the apron on the right side, there are a few hex bolts. I believe it's the one furthest from the operator, but I'm not at the lathe so I can't check. It will be loose and easy to turn, while the others are snugged down. Snug it up and you'll be locked.

I had to ask PM, it wasn't obvious, and wasn't in the manual. :)

And it's super simple to make the Blondihacks wrench for it...

that stays in place all of the time.

Is it possible on the 1127 to disengage the lead screw (neutral position) and engage the half nuts to lock the carriage in place? That’s how I had to lock the carriage on my mini lathe.
