I'm not at home and need a measurement from the spindle nose to the shoulder where the chuck back buttstock up against, thanks.
This is for the 12x36, 1.5"-8 nose

On my 3996, it runs between 0.997" and 0.999". So I would guess that the base dimension on the drawing was 1.000" + 0/-.005.

Thanks, I would've thought it was a bit longer than that looking at my pictures..., but now that I looked closely, I didn't need any one to measure I could just counted the threads in my pic and determined that it was close to an inch lol. I really appreciate your time in doing so. I'm trying to draw up an adapter for a bison Chuck I'm considering, it has a d1-6 mount, but for the cost of the chuck, if this don't work out I could probably double or triple my money selling it

You're welcome. If the D1-6 mounting plate bolts to the back of the actual chuck, Bison probably makes a 1-1/2-8 adapter plate.

Nope, it's a direct mount. So I will pull the cam studs and use those holes for the mounting bolts. The custom adaptor will have the short taper machined on my lathe to fit the chuck back, I will be able to minimize the chucks protrusion from the spindle bearings doing it this way, using a very short hub length if any at all, it may end up being flat on the spindle side being that the taper protrudes 14mm from the adaptors face, add the thickness of the adaptor plate and it's close to the inch I need to protect the spindle threads.
