Can a granite plate be TOO BIG?

I don't think I will try to get it first, as getting it into my basement shop would be a challenge.

Make a shuffleboard table out of it. That's huge and basically not practical for most people to even try to deal with.

How about an island for the kitchen, the wife might go for that.

That would look good in YOUR shop. Go get it already and post pic.:))

If a fellow had a way to load and haul it, he could probably take it to a surface plate manufacturer and have himself one of a more reasonable size cut out of it. Might be able to make a deal to sell the rest to them. Of course that would depend on having a surface plate maker near enough to make it worthwhile. You would need to have it resurfaced anyway, even if you wanted to use it as is. That's what has kept me away from used surface plates, the cost for getting a smaller one resurfaced is not terribly much higher than getting it checked. By the time I pay for the going rate for the surface plate, spend the fuel to pick it up and take it to the nearest manufacturer, then go back and pick it up from them, the cost is close to a new one.

Rent an air hammer and cut off a corner the size you need. Break the rest up and use it in the garden.

slice it up into tombstones...

used to use a big one like that for jet engine part measurements
