My new to me 6 inch Craftsman lathe has a busted spindle drive gear. I have the cutter needed and will make one to replace it.

I would also like to see how gears are made using gear cutters. I recently had to make a nylon change gear for my atlas 10f and it works but was made using CNC and square end mills and not gear cutters. Please take lots of pics! What material are you planning on?

And why did it break?
 
Piece of cake but I will document it for you. It really is simple. The one shown below is on a crank shaft.
