It might be a great surface plate, but I think he’s dreaming if he thinks he can get that much for it. There a been several similar size plates listed on eBay over the last year with similar asking prices. Most went for between $100.00 and $200.00. The most paid was $400.00

A few years ago I purchased a 24” x 36” Challenge grade A hand scraped cast iron plate with handles on that was recently certified. I paid $100.00. It seems the larger the plate the less they go for. They only appeal to the local market since shipping would cost as much as the plate itself

Well, since I’ve never looked for one I have no idea the value, just thought it might be of interest.

Bob, Rowe Machinery is probably the last machine rebuilder around here. I was talking with him when he came out to do the rigging for our recent move and he said he was moving his business to his house so he could semi-retire.

I’ve always thought his prices were a little high, but that’s his business. He’s got some cool stuff and it might be worthwhile checking with him for smaller things that could be shipped.

Again, no affiliation. Just a guy with a shop here in town that sells and rebuilds machine tools.
