I've seen a 0 - 1/4" teensy Archer for sale (it's from a small engineering company workshop clearance).

It's marked Made in Britain (even has a bulldog showing its arse as a logo!) and it doesn't look, aesthetics-wise at least, particularly recent.

It's a little cosmetically grubby but no signs of notable abuse.

i reckon I can get it for less than £25 so maybe I could just take a punt and find out, but if anybody has anything specific to say about Archer (good or bad), that might help me make up my mind.

Cheers in advance, you clever bunch. :)

The Archer tapping heads are fairly good. Most of the "old stuff" is quite well made. :)

Must be a figment of your imagination: no photo ;)
Photos can identify the source of the seller and I'd kind of like first dibs on this one if Archer were identified as a manufacturer of decent quality. ;)

Don't worry, given the post from @stupoty , you'll see it soon enough on "WDYBT".

Luckily I already have a nice NOS made in england 0- 1/4" chuck :)

I've just received a little sensitive drill press (looks like it was made from a kit). It needs some love: the paintwork is shameful, there's a bit of rust here and there and I think the original 'builder' didn't do a great job of machining the castings. Yeah, yeah, I'll pop up some pics of it on the WDYBT thread later.

Anyway, this chuck is too big for that (and I'd have to make a new spindle as the existing spindle has a small 'dremel type' collet chuck) but it did make me idly want a smaller keyless chuck. (I already have really nice Jacobs 1-13 mm and an Albrecht 1-16 mm).

Given the potential cheapness of this Archer, I figured I might give it a punt. :)
