Hello All,
I am into the J head on my mill and found that the upper gear box seemed to have been packed with grease and that the two bull gear spindle bearings (6203) are sealed bearings. These are the sealed bearings, not the back to back precision bearings.
Have any of y'all run into this before? Do you recommend reassembling the gearbox in this manner? It appears that Bridgeport ran bearings with out seals and that all was lubricated with #10 Spindle Oil.
Should I put it back together using an oil bath is there any reason that I shouldn't pop the seals out of the existing bearings and use them?
Thanks fellows,
Vlad
