Hello,
I haven't had this out before on this mill. It's a Sharp 3hp, TMV knee mill.
It has the standard parts as I remember on my old Bridgeport.
I can't seem to get this apart. There is something binding.
I can't seem to get the overload clutch worm gear out, there may be a burr. I removed the snap ring.
I can't get the hand wheel clutch off either, the two set screws are removed.
I can turn the feed worm shaft and all seems to work properly.
The reason I took it apart is because the forward and reverse quill feed knob/shaft is stuck in one position.
Any thoughts?
I am looking for something binding/missing/damaged etc. I did see the .1875" detent ball is missing.
McMaster is sending me a bag of 100 for $4.03 plus shipping. Anyone else need a ball?
When I purchased the mill, this all worked properly. Haven't used the power feed since.

Thank you,
I found the section on my little problem. It must have a burr or something.
Now I can use a puller with confidence. It looks like I need to replace the worm gear anyway. The teeth look a bit rounded.

On the other hand, the feed worm shaft is probably locked into the overload clutch worm gear which is locking the two from coming out.
Hmmm.
Any ideas? I have tried spinning back and forth, pushing and pulling.

Watched a video this morning from H&W Machine. Those guys are amazing.
I think I can get half of it apart at this point.
It's interesting how the Sharp and the Bridgeport are like twins!!
I assume all the clones share the same parts.
