My first test fire of the 5” brass mini-cannon I made on our Southbend lathe at our local Makerspace. The base is 3D printed from PETG, glued and bolted together, and I added a 1/2"x3"x6" steel plate for recoil. The 3" long bore is 0.28" widening to 0.42"over the last 2". The charge was 14grains Goex 3f black powder with a 1.8mm slow cannon fuse. Not much louder than a firecracker.

I’ll next try to replicate that on my 8x16 LMS mini-lathe.

Cute little thing! Is there an actual shot that gets launched or just the charge? Nice looking base too, I like the bulkiness of it. More elaborate than what I was imagining.
