A friend of mine has gotten into redoing vintage bikes (70's and 80's) So I have been making parts for him mostly things he can't find or that could be done better. I just finished a bracket to hold his back rack on a very nice Trek. Was a quick evening project.
These are pictures of the bracket before it was polished. Made him do the polishing so I didn't get pictures of it after. The holes are just for looks (I think). Its called drillium ( I am not making this up :nuts and a lot of the road bike people really get into it. Its is for "weight savings". If you look close 4 of the holes are out of place. I was to lazy to change to a center drill. :banghead: Oh well. There is probably a market for hobby machinist to drill out parts for bike riders like this. If you look at examples online that people have done these people have apparently never seen a DRO or a mill.
It was interesting figuring out how to clamp the piece in for some of the cuts. Don't laugh it worked. Oh well just a quick post about a quick project.
