Hey all,
I've cleaned my new to me B1. I put it in Evaporust and now have a paint job drying.
Last night I determined the top blade has a 15 degree angle.
I have a surface grinder and plan to do this myself.
I would like ideas on how you set up your blades to retouch.
According to the instructions, proper adjustment is critical to avoid damaging the blades and to get the best cut possible.

This is the 15 degree curved blade.
Anybody?

Not that this helps with your sharpening question, but MrPete has a couple videos released within the last few days of a road trip and tour of the Beverly shear company. Two part series, I’ve not watched them to know if they’re any good or not but thought you might find it interesting. Don’t know if posting an actual link would be cool, but you can search him on YouTube under “mrpete222”, minus the quotation marks.

Frank,
Yeah, I saw that. What a co ink e dink. Pattern making folks would appreciate it.
I see where I can buy new blades but the adjustment mechanism is well thought out.
Anybody have one of these? How do you sharpen your blades?

Saw this on ebay, and just thought I'd pass it along. Not sure if it's a good price for a new set of blades or not.

Those blades are not that bad, I’ll bet the new ones are not as high quality as the old ones. I’m not sure why you are so worried about the curve. In practice it makes it easier to hone the cutting surface because it makes it effectively wider and easier to keep stable. To me it would be a PIA to mount in a SG, but that’s just me.

I have a small a small 9x12 cheap surface plate that is used for sanding with stick on sand paper. i used the 120 to sand down to get the nicks out. The 400 to take out the sanding marks, then a HF diamond block to put the final finish on it.

I posted how Jere Kirkpatrick does his shears, it’s basically the same idea. Just some elbow grease and really not that much.
