Have a simple question or maybe asking an opinion, where is the best place on the internet to buy hardware? (i.e. price, selection, quality...)
I have been buying alot from Albanycountyfasteners.com.

Thanks for your input!

I buy all the hardware for my small business from www.boltdepot.com

Not sure about the best price, but the quality fasteners, super-fast shipping and great service keeps me returning.

I recently purchased some cap screws and such, and found wholesale tool (www.wttool.com) to have the best price/availability/shipping rates (surprisingly as they aren't really marketed as a hardware supplier).

lately for set screws and bolts, I've been buying 3' lengths of SS threaded rod from home depot and cutting it to the length I need on my band saw. then either slot one end if I want a set screw or loctite 2 small nuts onto the end if I need a bolt. perfect sized bolts every time. I have 1/4-20, 3/8-16 and 1/2-13 threaded rod on hand at all times.

I have just bought a box of 100 for each size nut at home depot also, but will look at WTTools.com. didn't realize they sold hardware.

A lot of these places are very good sources of nuts and bolts. I have purchased probably from all of them. Price and availability I guess is all in what you want and when you want it.
I have always been looking for that magical place that delivers it all. Let's call it fantasyworldhardware.com. :ups:

I know for a lot of my stock, and I am in no way pushing them, I have found albanycountyfasteners.com to have lots of sizes on hand, different types, fast shippment, low shipping cost and great prices. The only down side is everything is either stainless or brass.
I know that one thing I have found since I got into machining is that the local hardware store is expensive but when you need a part they typically have it.

Another issue I have found in trying to save money is the price of metal stock. We were, and still do, go to the local scrap yard and pick stock they pull to one area for resale. I have found some really great deals this way but it is hard sometimes to know what you are really getting and the reliability of that particular size being there again is low.
We finally got an account at a local metal supplier and we purchase and minumum lot size so that we can keep price down. If I knew people in my area that needed metal laso we could possibly go together and yet that minimum and get a deal for all of us. So far our stock on hand has us covered for now but we are heading towards needing to buy more.
Keeping cost down is so important no matter if you hobby or run a business and cost of material can beat you up everytime.:whiteflag:

Unfortunatly there was a Wholsale Tool down the road but closed up, but last time I was there I got a
master catalog. Note they carry Acme lf and rt all sizes and lenghts for pretty cheap,, like for a new
leed screw. I am satisfied with them toll free and you get to talk with real people on the phone.
