I don't know if this good advice or not, but I'm thinking I wish I had thought of it. As a beginner with my first lathe I have made a few things already; internal/external threading bar, spindle nose protector/collet adapter remover and a collet extension. The latter two would have been so much easier if I had first made a mock up of my lathes spindle to check the fit of the parts I was making. Seems like something useful to have in the shop and a good bit of practice to learn the ins and outs of making threads. Just a thought.Jeff

I got lucky. The gentleman who passed away, making his lathe available for me, made one for the SB 11" and I got it in the boxes of "stuff" that came with it. As I am making a new chuck backplate and faceplate it is looking to be an invaluable tool.
