Ball end mills

For milling a radius corner in the bottom of you pockets or any other cut you make using the side of the cutter and the bottom at the same time, also for decorative milling that leaves a radius bottom either the full width of the cutter or if making several passes just as previously stated.

Because I didnt have any to post up, I have shamlessly stolen these pics from a post by another of our members...hq308.

They are great examples of artistic work on a utilitarian item :tiphat:

I hope Dave doesn't mind:whistle:

Prepping tube joints

I've seen Ron Covell demonstrate in one of his DVDs the use of ball end mills for prepping/notching tubing joints for motorcycle frames.

The idea is you select a ball end mill the same diameter as your tube (say 1-1/4"), set the tube to be notched in your milling vise at the appropriate angle and mill the tube end. The milling cutter notches out the tube and gives you a very tight fit, and hopefully a strong joint when you weld it.

Seemed like another good excuse to buy a milling machine to me....

Thats why we are unbeatable in the origin series. Always 1 step ahead;)

Cheers Phil
