B&S Dividing head #0, question on plunger?

I imagine this plate hole plunger should pull out with a spring loaded movement.
It has too much going on to be a dud. There is no movement at all.
Does yours plunge in and out?

Mine plunges. You might try rotating the knurled handle to free up the mechanism. Don't remember which way, but try it.
 
Yes, on both my BS-0 and BS-1 clones, the knurled sleeve pulls the pin back into the threaded portion so that you can lock the pin retracted by turning the knurled portion about a quarter turn. Actually on my BS-1 there's a separate, thin knurled ring about at the front that turns after pulling back the knurled cylinder.

That did it!
A bunch of chips/swarf was in the slot the pin slides in.
Needs a bit of a clean up.
