Is there directions for this chuck? I feel stupid asking, but I'm that guy who never does anything without reading the directions. I've had it for years. I like that it's so narrow.
Specifically, I want to know of after tightening the jaws onto the work, am I supposed to tighten the nut at the rear of the chuck also?

If you mean the round spanner holes, yes. Buy or make a wrench to fit. Mike

I don't. Lol. I mean after tightening the jaws on the work, by operating the section you refer to, do I then tighten the nut on the BACK of said chuck. I'll get a picture, sorry.

It's the larger ring with two flats. It varies the clearance on the jaw/scroll interface. If you tighten it, the jaws won't move at all.

That nut should just be snug enough to let the jaws move freely- you might want to put a dab of loctite to keep it in place.
The tommy bar holes are for tightening/loosening the jaws. You can make tommy bars or use old drill bits like I do on my Unimat chuck

The handle for my other chucks key fits it perfectly. I noticed on some other similar chucks, there was a snap ring instead of a nut. That Loctite idea sounds great. Thanks!
