Scored a Craftsman 6x18 model 101.21400 for $100. Seems complete with all the change gears I think? Got a nice heavy cabinet too.
It has an OEM Craftsman 111 21406 4 jaw chuck, but no chuck key. It takes a 7/32'' allen key. I can't find a chuck key anywhere. You guys got any leads?
It has a Jacobs drill chuck on the spindle.

The drive train was bound up. The gears and lead screw would not budge. After a quick disassembly and lube job it's all moving freely.
Thank God the bed is NICE on this one,,,lol.

I need a screw for the half nut, a compound crank lever, and a quill lock lever. Anybody have some spares?
Can't wait to do a total tare down and get her going.

It also came with a little bit of lathe tooling, a bunch of huge reamers and drill bits that I won't be able to use.

I have a new AXA tool post. Is it going to be too tall for this little 6'' guy? Can you guys recommend an inexpensive one that's worth having? I've seen the one on little machine shop. It comes with a t-nut that fits the 618. Is this a decent one?

It came with this heavier metal cabinet. The plywood top is too narrow for the motor. They had it rigged like you wouldn't believe. I was considering putting a piece of bowling alley floor on top of it. Would that work?

Thanks

Congratulations!
I’m afraid that an AXA may be a little too big for your lathe
OXA is more suited for your machine
Or
You could construct your own toolpost from plans readily available in a google search

Good luck on any road you travel.

AXA is too big, that is more for a 9-12" lathe, I like the tool posts Little Machine Shop sells. I have an AXA on my 9x20, and got the OXA for my Craftsman 101.21400.

$100 is a great deal, and that is a low serial number, which I think would give yours a late 1950s manufacture date.

I don't see why the bowling alley flooring wouldn't work. Mine came mounted to a 24x36" piece of 1" plywood, and I remounted it to that same board after getting it cleaned up.
