Atlas 101.21400

I got this Atlas Craftsman model and i would like to know if it's possible to turn C40 steel (AISI 1040) on this metal lathe ? Thanks

If it's a metal lathe there should be no problem. Your cutter will make the cut easy or troublesome. Carbide should work ok but high speed steel tools usually cut easier . I'd try the high speed first. If it's to hard then go with carbide. It's that way with most steels in general . 1040 isn't a hard steel per say but you don't know so you learn.
