I have a spare ALSGS ALB-310SX horizontal power feed for my RF 30 that I'd like to convert to a vertical style 310S. Besides the mount the problem I see is the gear arrangement. My horizontal has straight cut spur gears on the motor and lead screw gear. The verticle uses bevel cut gears. So I've think I've found the bevel cut lead screw gear on eBay. But i don't see bevel cut pinion gear for the motor.
I ended up with a spare because when I put a DRO on the RF30 it was going to be a pain to mount the safety switch and I'd never ever needed it. Until a month after, yeah I know. Somehow I'd forgot to kick it in neutral and it went to end of travel and stalled, d'oh! It popped the breaker but when I reset it didn't move and after checking that it had power through the breaker I figured it was toast and got another. I wondered if a friend down the street could take a look at it and after reading the skimpy manual decided it had overheated a brush and come un soldered. Sure enough we were able to save it and it works good as new. Now I'd like to use it to power either the Z or Y axis, but need first to convert it as with the horizontal mount IMHO it would be very ungainly for either application.
Any thoughts?
