Any V belt experts out there?

One of the V belts on my Grizzly G0705 has decided to shred itself. This isn't any big deal, as I'm sure I can buy a replacement. I already have the numbers for both belts. One is an A33. The other an A39. Here's my question. The belt I pulled off the machine is labeled a PVA838. I've always kinda thought the belts I bought it with may have been replacements. It's a ridiculously difficult effort required to change the pulley selection. So I'm wondering if anyone knows what this PVA-838 belt is, and why he would have used it instead of the original component? I'm going to go ahead an replace both with the recommendations from the manual. Just curious though.

the only things that comes to mind is that the original belts may have not been available and the owner got the closest available belt(s)
it is conceivable that the 838mm belt could have been an 850mm specification -
12 mm doesn't sound like a lot, but it is the difference between fighting a belt on and slipping a belt on

This probably isn't interesting, but oh well. I went to get the belts from a local farm supply last night. I checked their stock online, and paid in advance with a misguided hope that the belts would be waiting on me when I got there. I only had to involve two different cashiers. the manager, and one helper on the floor before I was able to get someone to admit that "the computer was wrong". I gently reminded them that the computer didn't come out and count the inventory. Anyways what I came home with was an A34 and an A38. My thinking was that I'd get one belt an inch longer, and the other an inch shorter, and everything would work out ok. Evidently, my thinking was flawed. So for now, I'm running an A34, and the old A39, and the darn thing is still just about as tight as it used to be. I'll go back some time this week and get an A40, and A41. Surely one of them will do the job, and provide a little easier belt changes. The good news is the price on belts. These things are pretty cheap, so I'm not bent out of shape about having to buy a few different ones to get it right.

FWIW, the stock belt size on my G4003G (forget the size) had me lowering the motor mount as far down as it would go and the belts were still a hair loose. Both belts were same size. I moved down one size (shorter) and it's much better now. FWIW, I'm only running one belt nowadays. No problems with slipping. DOH! :foot in mouth: Thought you were talking about a lathe, not a mill.

I ended up using an A34 and an A39 regular v belt. The mill is much more quiet. I’m thinking I should have replaced the old belts a long time ago.
