I recently was going through some items I received with a bulk purchase when I bought a lathe and trying to figure what the following three items are and if worth keeping.
The first item appears to be some sort of handle/holder. It is threaded at both ends but only has an insert at one end so the other end is missing. It is marked Lufkin 4 in.

The second item is marked The Billings & Spence Co Hartford Conn. It is very heavy cast and some sort of holder. Not sure what it is but I was thinking of using it for a micrometer holder after placing some rubber between the openings. It has two thumb screws. One for adjusting angle and the other for clamping

The last item looks like a lathe dog but to light duty. Maybe a stop?

#1 looks like an extension for an inside micrometer.
#2 is a stand for holding a measuring device (scale, caliper, micrometer) while inspecting parts on a bench.
#3 might be used for holding a Bunsen-type burner. With the hex fastener, it isn't likely to be for holding test tubes, but uses the same principle.

I think you are spot on. It makes sense to me I have no need at this time for items 1&3. But I had been thinking about purchasing a micrometer stand. With a little work I will be able to have a stand most likely better than anything made today. Thanks Provincial.

There is someone out there who has been looking for a Lufkin 4" inside mic extension for several years.
I was in that situation with a .5" extension.
