I noticed I have a bird in my 10HP RPC.
This is when it's cold. I noticed it doesn't do it when it's warmed up. It takes several minutes for the armature to stop spinning.
Any ideas?

Are you able to see if there is any shaft play, it kinda sounds like a bearing is starting to be unhappy.

No shaft access without taking it partially down.
This Belden motor should last decades. I only run it an hour or two here and there

I have the exact same RPC, and mine does the exact same thing. Has done it ever since I bought it. In the warmer months, it never happens. But now that the weather is cooling down, it's back. What I've discovered is that if you turn the power off; wait about ten or fifteen seconds and power it back on, it usually stops. In very cold weather, it may take a little longer. When I first noticed it, I would let the motor spin all the way down to a complete stop, which takes a pretty good while. By chance, I discovered that's not necessary. Mine is few years old, and it's never failed. I've just grown accustomed to dealing with the nuisance.

My 40hp rpc makes noises to.
Did the bearings in it. Brand new bearings and it still has intermittent noises. Played with the preload on them to. I've just accepted they make funky noises at times.

that then sounds like the bearing is spinning in the bore. If stopping it stops it, I'll bet that's what is happening. Once it starts doing that it doesn't want to stop until it's fully warmed up, but if stopped it has a chance to make the outter race stop spinning on the bore.

Just my opinion.

damn, that's an ugly statement.... but I stand by it... too lazy to fix it up.

after listening to the video, it doesn't sound like the race spinning in the bore...
maybe it needs another wave washer to keep the shaft centered.

you could try tilting the motor to one end and run it, then tilt it the other direction-
that would surely intensify the noise in a bearing starting to fail.
if the noise goes away on one side tilted, you have a place to start
6307-2RS-C3 bearings are most likely contained within the motor housing
