Altas Th42 lathe how to reinstall bull gear pin.

I have a Atlas TH42 lathe my pin on bull gear was stuck working it lose I pulled to hard and it came out. I can not reinstall it the detent pin is there. Do I have to take apart to put it back in? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

I used a slim flat blade screwdriver to depress the detent pin and spring and slowly inserted the pin back into place as I withdrew the blade.
