Today I scored a 0.625" thick sheet of ALCA5 precision plate from my recycler. Apparently, it was scrap from someone making airplane parts. Paid $0.75 per pound. This is excellent milling material. It cuts like butter and produces a great finish even with a rougher. I got a bit over a 100 pounds for $75.

Never heard of ALCA5. I assume it is alum. casting? If so it's really nice stuff. An outfit on Ebay sells alum casting of many different thicknesses, it's good stuff. Sounds like you made a score.
