Airco CV-450 welder Q

A friend picked this up from an aviation auction for a couple hundred $$, it's surplus not scrap.
The welder is 3 phase 480V anyone using a rotary phase converter/Transformer to run a mig welder?

Hey there.. You posted in 2011. I'm responding in 2021. How's that for timeliness. You have an Airco CV-450 with a Miget spool gun. I have the exact same rig. I, too, am trying to run on a phase converter. I'm having problems. First problem is not having a manual and schematic for the machine. The spool gun was feeding wire for a few pulls of the spool gun trigger....but stopped after only about 12" of wire was fed. I'm nervous that my phase converter (which has some nasty voltage imbalances) has burned-up my feeder motor. But this is only conjecture until I can do some more verification this morning, Saturday, March 20, 2021 in Town Creek, Alabama.

I am working on the same setup....an Airco CV-450 and Miget Spool Gun.....powered by a phase converter. I'm having trouble. Need an Airco CV-450 owners manual and the wiring diagram schematic. Also interested in the function of the AHC-M/S control for the spool gun.
