I'm not sure that "affordable" and "carbide insert parting tool" can be realistically used in one sentance, but here goes... Anyone know if affordable carbide insert parting tools are sold anywhere? I'm looking for one that takes standard inserts and can be used with an AXA QCTP.
We have some at work made by Ingersoll and they are an absolute dream to use. I'd wager I could part off a 12" bar using a 7x10 mini lathe with these puppies! Seriously though, they work real well and I love to have one.
But, $80 for the blade, $10-15 a pop for a single insert and $200+ for the toolholder is a bit rich for my blood...
