Affordable Carbide Insert Parting Tools?

I'm not sure that "affordable" and "carbide insert parting tool" can be realistically used in one sentance, but here goes... Anyone know if affordable carbide insert parting tools are sold anywhere? I'm looking for one that takes standard inserts and can be used with an AXA QCTP.

We have some at work made by Ingersoll and they are an absolute dream to use. I'd wager I could part off a 12" bar using a 7x10 mini lathe with these puppies! Seriously though, they work real well and I love to have one.

But, $80 for the blade, $10-15 a pop for a single insert and $200+ for the toolholder is a bit rich for my blood...

John,
Couldnt you just mill a holder yourself and just buy the insert and hold down hardware. You do some fabulous work so I am thinking that would not present much of a challenge to you and you would save the money too.

Thanks Bob. I thought about making the blade holder, but the blade itself I'm not comfortable with. These things are so stiff, they seem to be made of some mystery material.

Is this the one you want a comparison to?
