Adjusting a Thread Helix?

I've been playing around with cutting some threads lately and I've started looking into threading tool holder for my QCTP. I've been looking at the Aloris tools and they have a model that allows you to ".....adjust the thread helix 10 degrees to the left or right....". Now, I'm just a hobbyist (which is why I'm here, in good company)- what does this feature do and is it important to have? Or would I be better served to save some bucks and get the simpler holder?

Thread helix is a concern primarily in the small diameter, coarse threads. Most, if not all carbide inserts, and properly ground HSS threading tools have sufficient side clearance built in, so there is no need to "tilt" the tool. That being said, if you were making a non-standard pitch/diameter combination, you could compensate for the needed additional clearance with these toolholders. But then, your 60 degree tool would not present at 60, so it would become a custom grid anyway. Unless you are sure you need these, I would look for somewhere else to spend my money.

Thought so. Then that's $100+ I don't need to spend. I wanted to get the Aloris holder because it looks like a pretty simple set-up, easy to keep sharp. I'm using an Armstrong holder and a rocker post for threading now, works fine but takes a little time to set up, have to grind the bit etc.
I bought the Aloris knurling tool recently and love that, think I'll try the threading holder and HSS cutter too- without the adjustable head. Thanks guys.
