I am considering purchasing a set of adjustable reamers, but I cant find any information on how they really work? How are they adjusted? How do you set the size properly? How much adjustment do you have in each reamer?

If anyone can give a short tutorial here I (and Im sure others) would greatly appreciate it!

P.S. the more pictures the better!

Thanks Billy, don't know why I didn't think to search Youtube!

So is the shaft of the reamer tapered?
How much of the cutter 'blades' are actually at the proper size and doing the cutting?
Can the 'blades' be replaced or sharpened as the reamer wears, and would that change the size settings?

Just the slots for the cutters are tapered. As you move the cutters toward the end he calls the bottom the reamer will get larger. The non-cutting edge of the blades is also tapered. That is how the move out and in.

I have a couple different sizes, and they work really well!
The only drawback I have with them is in reaming blind holes. They won't get at all close to the bottom of the hole!
I have a couple of standard chucking reamers that I have drilled, then cut and put a tapered screw in the end to give them a small adjustment range. For custom stuff.
