Really for married guys. Here's a way to have your "Little nest of vipers" actually want you in your shop. I threw this table lamp together in about a week of spare time and about $40 worth of fittings from Grand Brass. Built to match some modern end table SHE bought. And I can tell you this stuff pays off in spades. I'm currently working on a new clock design, but also some art deco sconces because I like the way they make me FEEL ;)

Re: A "Feel Good" project

Looks great Bet that would cost £300-£400 in the shops, have you used up the browny points yet?

That is beautiful...my wife would love that! She might even appreciate my machining hobby more if I made that.

My wife looked at it and said at least you make somthing useful ;)

Re: A "Feel Good" project

The trick is to make her something that SHE NEEDS. Then there is the jewelry fixing that is allways a big hit. Hardly any time invested with a BIG payout. I learned this a long time ago which is why I'm still married after 35 years.

That's great advice- you did well!

:) I know the feeling, it will be 30 yrs for us in Sept. We like to read and I have a lot of shop books metal and woodworking/toybuilding (hey with 6 kids a fellow can't afford to buy them toys ;)). So I had to build "us" a bookshelf. This is 4 ft x 8 ft tall and screwed to the wall so it won't fall over. 7 shelves adjustable and some stacked 2 books deep. ::)
Kudos on your great lamp !!
